Thoppil Bhasi award for ONV

Jnanpith award winner ONV Kurup has bagged the first Thoppil Bhasi award instituted by Thoppil Bhasi Foundation. The award includes a sum of Rs 33,333, a statuette and citation. Foundation chairman Pannyan Raveendran and secretary Vallikav Mohandas said in a press meet that he has been selected for the award considering his comprehensive contributions for the drama field. Pirappankode Murali and Dr. A.K. Nambiar, members of the judging committee opined that the effort ONV has taken to popularise Malayalam drama was remarkable, especially in the initial stages of its growth. He would receive the award on December 8 in a function at Thiruvananthapuram.
