`Rasaleela' progressing

Kamalahassan-Jayasudha starrer `Rasaleela', by N. Sankeran Nair released in 1975. It was a remake of Kamal starred Tamil film `Unairchikal;. Now the film gets a remake by the late director Bharanthan's assistant Majeed Marancheri. Majeed has incorporated some changes in the story to the taste of young generation. Superhit song of Yesudas for the film `Nisa Surabikal Vasantha Senakal Nadanamaadaan Varikayo..' will be sung by his son Vijay in the remake. In the old version, lyrics was penned by Vayalar Rama Varma and music scored by Sali Chaudhary. In the remake Vayalar's son Vayalar Sarat Chandra Varma has penned the lyrics and music tuned by Salildha's son Sanjay Chaudhary. Actress Deepika's son Darsan and Prathishta from Visakhapattanam are doing the lead. Prathishta has acted in four Telugu movies and she said, she feels comfortable in acting in the movie. Story of the movie takes place in an ancestral house Manakkal Thravad. Krsihnanunni is the only son of Dathan Namboothiri and Savithri Antharjanam. According to astrologists, Krishnanunni's horoscope is confusing and he would die in the very first night, if he get married. Not taking into account the predictions of astrologists, his parents got him married and he died as predicted by astrologers. As his wife Unni Maya became a widow, Dathan Namboothiri brought a saint to find remedies for the peace of his son's soul. During the period of remedial measures like pooja and other rituals, Unni Maya fell in love with the assistant named Devan, who accompanied the saint.
Darsan and Prathishta are doing the roles of Krisnanunni and Unni Maya. Other cast includes Kalasala Babu and Urmila Unni as Dathan and Savithri. Tony, Anoop Chandran, Narayanan Kutty, Hari and Mini Arun. Majeed Marancheri has penned the screenplay. Shiju Elankode has penned the dialogue. Suji Lal cranks the camera. S.B.M Entertainments is producing the film. Shoot is progressing at Guruvayoor.
