Oscar rejection does not deject me: Salim Kumar

The National award winning film `Adaminte Makan Abu', India's official entry to the Oscars this year has failed to enter into the short list. It could not place into the top nine short list for the next round voting for the best foreign film. The film directed by debutant filmmaker, Salim Ahmed, is about an old man’s struggle to go for a pigrimage to Mecca. Salim Kumar, who portrayed Abu in the film, responded at the venue of screening a docu-fiction about his life, that he was not dejected with the news the film did not get selected for the short list. He expressed his happiness that at least a Malayalam film got nominated for Oscars and that too a recognition. Now India's only hope is on Sohan Roy's `Dam 999', which is contending for the best picture award.
