Hello to everyone here. This is the beauty of the internet. I stumbled upon this site while searching for information about Shobha (1962 - 1980).

I started out listening to this beautiful Tamil song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdHd5y5i8wM featuring Shobha. Intrigued by her maturity at such a young age, I searched further and found that she started her acting career at the age of 5 in the Malayalam movie Udhyogastha (1967).

What did she look like when she was 5? I searched further and landed at mallumovies, and found this song http://www.malayalammovies.org/song/udhyogastha/maankidaavine and there she is, Shobha at the age of 5!

Suddenly I felt such a sadness in my heart. Such a pretty young girl built up a career in filmdom, acting in so many movies in the short time she had on this Earth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sobha) and rose to such heights at just 18, only to have her life snuffed out by suicide. Thereby lies a great loss to all of us. I cannot add anything further to all the commentaries made by earlier writers, and yet I wanted to say something here to thank the owners of this website for helping me in my journey today. As I write this I am once again listening to the song Kanavugalay on YouTube, and the lyrics and the images somehow seem to capture the very essence of her sadness and loneliness during her last moments, that led her to take her own life.
