Malayalam poet O.N.V. Kurup gets Jnanpith award, the highest literary award in the country.

O.N.V. Kurup is the fifth Keralite to the get this award, the others being G. Sankara Kurup, S.K. Pottekad, Thakazhi Siva Sankara Pillai and M.T. Vasudevan Nair.
